Welcome to the Autumn 2022 issue Nº 198. Our theme of advertising has inspired Members to contribute some interesting pieces on the early use of photography in advertising ephemera, the story of the ‘grandfather of advertising’ Thomas Barratt’s ability to sell soap, local French advertising in the Jeu de l’Oie commercial board game, and changing attitudes towards women reflected in global airline advertising of the last fifty years. As ever, ephemera provides rich and intriguing insights into times gone by, some changed attitudes and some entrenched ones too. The Editor
