Issue 181, Summer 2018
In this issue: National Art Library Jobbing Printing Collection, Deborah Sutherland & Ruth Hibbard / Liebig trading cards: collecting thoughts, Ray Bishop / Old medicine bottle labels, John Sayers / From satire to sentiment, Dr Rebecca Virag / Regulars including quarterly notes from the travelling ephemerist, Mrs Pepys.
We are always happy to have contributions to this journal from museum collections, and especially happy that we are able to include both early twentieth century typographic design from the National Art Library Jobbing Printing Collection at the V&A, and the heart-warming valentines from the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge in this issue. It’s also a great pleasure to hear about finds from our enthusiastic collectors. Don’t miss John Sayers’ delightful medicine bottle labels, and his meticulous descriptions of the remedies and tonics available before the days of antibiotics; more chromos and advice from our enthusiastic Leibig collector, Ray Bishop, and quarterly news from the travelling ephemerist, our very own Mrs Pepys. Enjoy!
