‘Curiouser and curiouser’, might sum up this summer issue Nº 185
of The Ephemerist. As well as the series of Alice-pastiche ‘Doctor’s booklets’, commissioned by Guinness to remind recipients of the restorative powers of Guinness stout, we have some startling finds from some of our many enthusiastic collectors — an old letter that reveals a search for an uncorrupted housemaid; elaborate early passports with ‘character portraits’ that document a need for security printing; and the invigorating properties of the electric corset. Our next issue will be the first of our specially-themed issues on Food and Drink. Do contribute if you can ! The Editor
